Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has defended the Kenya Kwanza Administration’s development record, stating that performance and service delivery will decide the 2027 General election.
Speaking on Tuesday in Msambweni constituency during the launch of the Magaoni-Masindeni last-mile electricity projects, Kindiki emphasized that President William Ruto’s re-election bid will be built on tangible achievements in infrastructure, electricity, markets, and the blue economy.
“Next year’s general election is a simple contest between performance and delivery against empty rhetoric, propaganda and division,” Said the Deputy President.
DP Kindiki argued that the leaders criticizing the government had previously occupied high-ranking positions without delivering meaningful improvements for ordinary citizens.
“Those in opposition lecturing us now on how best to run the affairs of the country are not angels who have just fallen from the skies. They occupied high positions in government, including the position I currently occupy. They have nothing to show for their time in office,” added Kindiki.
The Deputy President announced that the government has allocated 1.8 billion KSh to connect an additional 15,300 households in Kwale County to the national electricity grid.

As the country gears up for the 2027 general elections, it remains uncertain whether Prof. Kithure Kindiki will be on the ballot, sharing the same ticket with his boss. This uncertainty from UDA’s broad-based partner, who continues to demand the Deputy President slot in exchange for supporting Ruto’s re-election bid.
POLITICAL HEADACHE: Gachagua’s Opposition Dilemma.
Furthermore, political undertones in the Mt. Kenya region seem to be disrupting Prof. Kindiki’s strategy, especially as his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, remains determined to consolidate control over the Mt. Kenya vote. Ultimately, the upcoming Ol-Kalou by-election is expected to serve as a litmus test, heavily influencing the political direction of the mountain.
