Sharp political journalism.
No spin. No sacred cows.
Political Headache is a Nairobi-based digital newsroom covering power, policy, and politics across Kenya, Africa, and the world.
Why We Exist
Kenya’s political landscape moves fast. Coalition deals are struck at funerals. Party allegiances shift between breakfast and lunch. A Cabinet Secretary can go from indispensable to expendable in the time it takes to draft a press release.
Most coverage falls into one of two traps: breathless breaking-news alerts with no context, or opinion dressed up as reporting. We exist in the space between those two failures.
Political Headache delivers reported analysis — stories grounded in verified facts but unafraid to explain what those facts mean. We tell you what happened, why it happened, and what is likely to happen next. We name names. We follow the money. We read the documents that politicians hope nobody reads.
What We Cover

Kenya Politics
From Harambee House to the county assemblies, from coalition arithmetic to ground-level policy impact — the systems and institutions that shape how power works.

Africa & Regional
The African Union, the EAC, trade corridors, security dynamics, and the diplomatic manoeuvres that rarely make the front page but always shape the outcome.

Global Geopolitics
International forces from Washington to Beijing that determine Africa’s options. Covered from an African vantage point, not as foreign dispatches.

Opinion
Sharp editorial perspectives where our writers take positions and engage with the questions shaping public debate. Always clearly labelled.

Our Standards
Is it true? Is it fair? Is it important?
We verify claims before publishing. We seek comment from the people we write about. When we get something wrong, we correct it openly and promptly. We are editorially independent — not affiliated with any political party, coalition, or government office.
