Veteran Diplomat Henry Wooster is slated to become the next US Ambassador to Kenya following his nomination by President Trump. The nomination has been forwarded to the US Senate pending approval.
“Henry Wooster, of Virginia, a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Kenya,” the statement read.
With decades of global foreign policy experience, veteran diplomat Wooster has built a distinguished career across the U.S State Department. He is currently serving as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Maghreb and Egypt in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.

Wooster’s extensive diplomatic track record features key leadership roles, including Deputy Chief of Mission in Paris and Charge’ d’Affairs in Amman.
His diverse expertise spans critical national security assignments, from advising the Commanding General of the U.S. Joint Special Operations Command to serving as the National Security Council’s Director for Central Asia and leading the State Department’s office of Iranian Affairs.

Wooster is fluent in French and Russian, and speaks Arabic, Farsi, and Aramaic. The veteran diplomat is set to succeed Meg Whitman, who assumed the role in 2022.
